One of the biggest advantages of owning a Siromer tractor is how easy it is to look after. Built for real-world use, not dealership dependency, these tractors are designed so you can do most servicing yourself. Whether you’ve assembled your tractor from flat-pack or bought it fully built, regular DIY maintenance keeps it running smoothly and saves you money.
Why DIY Maintenance Matters
Saves time and cost: No waiting for dealers or service vans.
Builds confidence: You’ll understand your machine better.
Protects performance: Small, regular jobs prevent big problems later.
Siromer tractors are engineered with simplicity and accessibility in mind, straightforward oil drains, clear filter access, and easy-reach grease points.
The Essentials You Can Do at Home
1️⃣ Check and Change Engine Oil
The simplest job with the biggest impact. Warm up the tractor, drain the oil, replace the filter, and refill with the correct grade. Check for leaks after running for a few minutes.
💡 Tip: Always use new crush washers or seals when refitting drain plugs.

2️⃣ Clean or Replace Air and Fuel Filters
Dust and dirt are your engine’s enemies. Clean the outer air filter regularly, more often if you’re mowing dry paddocks or hedge trimming, and replace when it darkens or clogs. Replace fuel filters every service interval to keep diesel flowing clean.
3️⃣ Top Up Fluids
Check coolant, hydraulic oil, gearbox and front axle levels. Top up with the recommended fluids, a clear inspection window or dipstick makes it easy.
4️⃣ Grease and Tighten
A grease gun is a Siromer owner’s best friend. Hit every nipple on loaders, linkages and pedals, there can be between 11-15 grease points on your tractor. Then go over all visible nuts and bolts, vibrations can loosen fittings over time, especially on loader brackets.
5️⃣ Keep it Clean
Mud and dust hold moisture. Muck can be quite acidic and attack the metal leading to accelerated rust. Hose off any flat surfaces and guards where dirt sits. A clean tractor is easier to inspect and safer to maintain.

Mud, dust, and debris aren’t just messy - they hold moisture, clog cooling systems, mask leaks, and accelerate corrosion and wear. A regular clean tractor isn’t just for looks; it’s easier to inspect and maintain.
Here’s how to keep your machine in top shape:
Use a machinery‐brush or hose with spray - avoid high-pressure washing around bearings, seals and hydraulic joints. Pressure washing and bearings don’t mix.
Scrape off heavy clumps of mud or debris (especially under the chassis, around linkages) before applying water.
Clean radiators, grills and air-intake areas regularly, blocked airflow means higher operating temps and faster wear.
After washing, dry the machine properly (or leave it in a well-ventilated place) and check for any visible leaks, loose bolts or paint damage.
If you have one, keep the cab interior clean too, dust affects controls, switches, and makes visual inspection harder.
Make it part of your routine: perhaps after a big job or before winter storage, allocate 20-30 minutes for cleaning and visual inspection.
